The e74 issue is actually caused by a problem with the scaler (ANA or HANA) chips located next to the graphics processor inside your Xbox 360. It is believed that the error with the scaler video chip which causes the e74 error on your Xbox 360 is caused by overheating. This is also the cause of other errors such as the no video problem, as well as red lights in the power ring of an Xbox console.

To fix the Xbox 360 e74 code, there are a few steps you need to take-
